DEATH TO JAZZ
GROWING UNPOPULARITY TANGO DRIVE PROPOSED (Received October 30, 3 p.m.) LONDON, October 29. A secret conference of London's dance teachers lias given tho death blow to jazz everywhere. There are signs of the growing, unpopularity of jazz, and instructors tiro facing tlie grim truth that dancing is dying. . The great Hammersmith Palais , de Dance, “London's- ballroom,” lias been closed down, umd. converted into : an ice rink. Restaurants are cutting down dances, and substituting cabaret turns. Speakers at the. conference declared that the dance-hall that had tlie courage to revive the waltz, polka and lancers would makea fortune. The instructors finally decided to return to 'the tango. Special hands are now being engaged for a big tango drive throughout England.
