MR. GUSTAVUS CHEWNO Formerly in business in Tolaga Bay and Gisborne, Mr Gustavus Ohewno passed away at the Memorial Home this morning, at the end of a lengthy illness. The late Mr Chewno, who was 58 years of age. was born in Wellington, New South -Wales, and came to New. Zealand about 23 years ago. For about 11 years he conducted a hairdressing business in Tolaga Bay, and seven. years he removed to Gisborne, where he commenced business as a boot repairer. Four years ago he entered the Memorial Home, and throughout that time he had been in failing health. The deceased was married in Napier 11 years ago, and he leaves a widow, but no family.

MR. SAMUEL J. FITZMAURICE A well-known figure in local commercial circles died at Cook Hospital yesterday, in the person of Mr. Samuel James (Dinnie) Fitzmaurice, aged 60 years, of 203 Grey street. The deceased, who had been ailing for some time, passed away yesterday. The late Mr. Fitzmaurice was born in New South Wales, and married there before coming to New Zealand in 1899. He spent the greater part of his stay in the Dominion in Gisborne, having been employed with Messrs. Clare and Clare foV mariy years. He leaves 1 a widow, five sons, Messrs. James Fitzmaurice, residing in Australia; William Fitzmaurice, of. Gisborne; Jack Fitzmaurice, of Auckland; and Ernest and Richard Fitzmaurice, both of Gisborne,; arid swo Mesdames Alice Grogan and Petherbridgo, also of Gisborne; to whom will be extended ;the sympahy of many friends. ; The funeral will leave his late resiI dence, 303 Grey street, at 3 p.ni. tomorrow 1 for Taruhertt cemetery..
