Percy Brooks dangled for a moment from the wing of an airplane, 2500 ft. above the airport and let go. The speed of the piano set his body spinning vertically. His parachute trailed behind, its shroud lines wrapped around each otJier like a rope, preventing the envelope from opening. Brooks, realising his predicament the moment he jerked the rip cord, began his desperate fight to unravel the lines in time for the chute to open. He succeeded only in time for the terrilic. wind pressure to force open the chute 500 ft. from the ground. William \Veber, another juniper, dropped from an altitude of 5000 ft. in a delayed jump. He fell .'iOOOft,, head first before pulling the ripcord. When he ciid so he \\'fts jerked upright with such, violence that the eord s , striking him on the temple, made him unconscious.
