CLUB-SWINGING RECORD ( (Per Press Association.l NAPIER,,, last night. Charles Puckett's club swinging effort of 72 hours 45 minutes, concluded at Christchurch on Friday, is far .from a world’s record, as has been claimed. At midnight on New Year’s Eve, 1913, Captain T. B. Bax, at Napier, completed 146 j hours’ continuous club swinging, having Started on Christmas night. This constitutes a world’s record. Tho previous best was 144 hours put up by DebrciJi, of Queensland. Bax used 21b. clubs, which is the recognised standard weight for endurance swinging in which the stipulated number of revolutions per minute has to be maintained throughout the full period of the test, Bax, who is in ( his 70th year, and still lives in Napier, finished in good condition, despite., the loss of sleep, and was having a swim at 7 o’clock next morning. Maybe Puckett’s effort at Christchurch constitutes a record for 61b. clubs, but certainly is far from a. record in recognised endurance club swinging
