SIR JOSEPH’S FUTURE

NOT HIGH COMMISSIONER (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. In a humorous manner, Sir Joseph disposed of the rumor that he will be the next High Commissioner. .He told the House early this morning: “I don’t object to rumors about myself, but I do object to bloomers being made oil the floor of the House (laughter) and an hon. member having the cool assumption that he is correct. The rumor was that 1 was going as High Commissioner to represent this country, and to become a peer and various other suggestions. I want to tell him that he is quite wrong. I have no intention of accepting the High Commissionshipi and any conjuring up in the mind of that member, 01 in the minds of those associated with him, has no l'ounatdion in fact.
