LITTLE TWINS’ DEATHS
VERDICT AT INQUEST c MOTHER HELD TO BE INSANE • ‘ \ (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. A verdict that death, was duo to strangulation by the mother, who at the time vras insane, was returned by Mr. F. It. Hunt, coroner, at the conclusion of the inquest on William Arran and Timothy Brian Cubis, twins, aged four years. The father, William Alfred Cubis, said his wife was aged 40 years and there were three children, all'boys, the eldest being eight years old. About 12 months ago Ills wife’s health broke down, and at. the end of last February she entered Wolfe Home on a doctor’s advice. She returned home on June 30. There were at times days when sho appeared in ill-health, but there was nothing to suggest that her mental condition was such that she would resort to violence and injure the children. Mrs. Eileen Paice, residing in the house adjoining Cubis’ home, said that about 1.1.30 on the morning of August G she heard Mrs. Cubis calling. Witness, with another neighbor, went with Mrs. Cubis into the house, where they found the children in hod with a silk stocking drawn round the neck of each.
Detective-Sergeant Kelly said that when he arrived Mrs. Cubis was in an hysterical condition and appeared to be demented.
