At Chicago, Griffiths, I3st, gained the verdict over George Cook, 14.8, by a technical knock-out in the fourth round. In the first round Griffiths had the advantage in slugging Cook, who went into numoi'Ous clinches, losing the round. In the second round, the in-fighting was even. Cook showing more generalship, but Griffiths, owing to his slugging, took the round towards the end, when Cook appeared to be hurt after dropping {•.,;■ a count of "eight." The third round also went to Griffiths, who scut, punches to the Australian's face, which was bleeding. Cook covered up fairly successfully, while his opponent attempted a knockout. Tho end came in the. fourth round, when Griffiths attacked the Australian with a scries of rights to the head and the solar plexus.
