FIRE IN THEATRE

SERIOUS DAMAGE CAUSED (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. A fire in the Palace picture theatre, just previously to opening time on Saturday, caused serious damage to the dress circle in particular, and the building generally. Extensive repairs will necessitate the theatre being closed for some time, Tiie building isi owned by Ml*. W. Carr, and leased to Thomas A. O'Brien Theatres. Ltd.. Auckland, who also are lessees of His .Majesty's. The operating box and plant escaped damage. The cause of the outbreak is not known, but an incipient fire occurred in the same place a fortnight ago. The insurances are not at present available.
