FLOODED COAL MINE

PUMPING RESUMED The pumping operations in the Ilikurangi Coal Co.'s flooded shaft were resumed last week, and most satisfactory progress is being made. A new generator has arrived and is being erected. Until this work is completed two pumps are being need, discharging some 90,000 gallons of water an hour, and lowering llie water level from two to three feet per day. The new drain which is being cut to divert the water is already proving beneficial and will increase in efficiency as Hie work proceeds. The manager hopes to have the men back on the coal in perhaps two. and not more than thrco months.
