REPRESENTATIVE GAME V STOPPED OWING TO RAIN Yesterday’s representative basketball match between the Wellington B grade team and Poverty Bay was abandoned at half-time owing to tain. The. score then stood at 6—l hi favor of the southerners. The second half ot the game will be played at the Gisborne l mitral School this afternoon, this arrangement. being arrived at after the captains of the teams had conferred with i lie referee and managers. Wellington soon had their opponents defending, and with bright, snappy movements managed to coniine play to Poverty Bay’s end during the opening stages. The visitors scored quickly, three goals being registered within six minutes of the .start. With the exception of one good rally on the part of the home players, Wellington dominated the game, notching two iurtlior goals in succession. A spirited attack, bv the Poverty Bay forwards. was finished off with a fine goal, , but the southerners scored again almost immediately afterwards, and the interval arrived with the score reading : Wellington 6 Poverty Bay 1 The game was controlled by Mr. Rigby. _______
