During the past 15 months no damago by fire lias occurred within file borough of Waipukumu. Injuries to liis shoulder sustained while taking part in the primary schools sports at the Oval yesterday necessitated the admission to Cook Hospital of Kenneth O’Connell, son of Mr. and Mrs. A, O’Connell, of 012 Ormond road. ’ Among the many instances already quoted of the social success of tho recent ladies’ hockey tournament from the visitors’ viewpoint is a letter received by Mr. and Mrs. W. T. l’itt from a. member of tho Rotorua leant. “You’ll never know just luiw much we loved being with you,” tho visitor stated, “and probably you will know, because I cannot teli you. 'truly, wo have never in our lives before regretfccd! leaving a place as wo did Gisborne. On all our other visits wn have never longed for Rotorua, hut when wo did get back we realised that home was best after all; this time it is a very different tale, and we are quite annoyed that wo are home. We have done our best to tell the old folk just lioiv wonderful you Gisborne people have been, but when the heart is so full words seem so futile.”
