A society wedding took place at Suva yesterday evening, when Elaine Maynard, daughter of Sir Maynard Hedstrom, married Robert Allan, elder son of Mr Robert Crompton, K.C.—U.P.A. Mr. H. L. Gleave, who is on the teaching staff of. the Tolaga Bay School, has received notice of liis appointment to the school for the deaf, at Sumner, Christchurch. The Gazette announces that the Board of Maori Ethnological Research has been constituted as follows :—Hon. Sir -Apirana Ngata (chairman), Hon. Sir Maui Pomare, Right Hon. J. G. Coates, Archdeacon H. W. Williams, Dr. P. H. Buck, Messrs. T. Makitanara, P. N. Jones, Q. P. Newton, H. E. Holland, Elsdon Best and H. D.-Skinner.
