PARENTS AS PRIESTS
PRAYERS IN THE HOME CANON HEAD’S BOOK LONDON, Sept, 11.. “The family is a God-given institution. Therefore, it is wrong to weaken it. There is a need to teach parents that they are really the priests of their families, and that family prayers are least once a day are worth more than some special services. ’ ’ This statcinbnt is made in a book entitled “Six Great Anglicans,” just published l bv the Student Christian Movement for Canon Head, of Liverpool, Archbishop-elect of Melbourne. Discussing “The Church and the Home,” Canon Head points out that the tendency recently has 'been to multiply the services of the Church. Young people wore urged to attend club meetings . night after night, Friendships and loyalties were begun, but with a weakening of domestic ties. There should 'be at least one night a week, continued Canon Head, when all should stay at home. Then the clergy, freed from outside duties, would visit the homes, and lead the family worship. This would go far towards a solution of the sexual problem. “Boys and igrls grew up in ignorance of temptation,” ho said, “because parents often lack the religious i responsibility in bringing up their children, who look outside the homo for answers to their questions and I desires. Surely fit is the duty of (parents to teach their children tho facts of life.” Canon Head believes that reunion will ertihe by uniting on what is the common British Christianity, the Anglican Church being the central body to unite other British Christians.
