Tim Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, has approved a proposal by the North Canterbury Hospital Board to provide more accommodation for- the Cashmere Sanatorium. The board’s proposals are to erect another storey upon the lower sanatorium, which will be used for chronic cases. This is to cost £II.OOO. Approval has been given to a proposal to erect an outbuilding.
The site of Dunedin’s new Post Office has been the scene of considerable activity during the past few weeks. A large gang of men has been employed in making tho necessary excavations for this huge structure, and now a start has been made to e'-ect all the pile-driving plant, such as the hammer and winches. The other gear for the work is now in 'ou’-se of manufacture. The birch poles required for tho placing af the foundations (approximately 1800 poles) are being pointed and delivered to the site. These poles are about 1 5't long and up to 15in in diameter.—Star.
