HANGING OVER RIVER BOMBAY, August 2. Thrilling scenes, in which a. circus troupe, swinging from a bridge by ropes, saved six people from drowning, were witnessed at Ahniedabad (Bombay Presidency) yesterday. Heavy rain in the upper reaches ol the River Sabermati brought down an immense volume of water and the river at Ahmedabad rose 18ft. in a few hours, Washermen and washerwomen working on the river bank were swept away by the flood, the latest estimate placing the number lost at 30. ■ - : . . The ringmaster of a circus performing in 'the town ordered out a troupe of trapeze performers with ropes, w'hich were attached, to a bridge over the river. Swinging from the ropes, the troupe grasped several of the natives as they were being swept past.
