At Opotiki this week a motorist was charged with affixing an illegal number to a motor vehicle, and with using an unregistered motor vehicle. Mr. T. Morrell, the borough traffic inspector, stated that defendant had taken the number plates off another lorry and attached them to an unregistered lorry. Mr. ,S. h. Patterson, S.M., Remarked that had defendant collided with another vehicle there would have been no insurance l;> cover damage. Defendant was lined 10s with costs on the first charge and on the second was con victed and lined £5 with costs.—Guardian.
