LEAGUE ASSEMBLY

GOOD RESULTS EXPECTED DISARMAMENT EFFORTS (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) GENEVA, August 31. Mr. Arthur Henderson, interviewed, opined that the work achieved at The Hague would greatly assist the Assembly’s deliberations. He added that for the first time since August, 1914, it can be said in the truest sense of the word that war has ended. The Government intended to make anotiier effort in the direction of world disarmament, beginning with an early attempt to secure the adoption of the principle of compulsory arbitration.

Mr. Henderson, alluding to the Mac-Donald-Dawes conversations, said that whether they reached results which would enable the Premier to make a bold and clear statement before the Assembly remained to be seen, but, if the negotiations were a success, and he believed they would be favorable, a conference could take place. Then, if the decisions of such a conference were feasible, they would be passed on to the League. MACDONALD AT GENEVA (Australian Press Assn.—United Scrvioe.) (Received September 2, 11 a.rn.) GENEVA, Sept. 1. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald has arrived, and is interviewing Dominion delegates.
