HOW AMEBIC ANS TRAIN SYDNEY, August l. “Americans wake,.a serious bus* ness of golf that they prepare, thbmselves as studiously as a candidate for an animation,” said Dr. Lee Brown, the well-known amateur golfer, on his return to Sydney by the ' AHrrabooka to-day, with Mrs. Leo Brown, after a tour ot the Continent, Great Britain and America. “Diet and massage are importan. factors,” said Dr. Lee Brown, “nor is the strict training confined to professionals, for leading amateurs .arc just as strict." ...... He estimated t{iat the golf of Bobby Jones and other, leading players was three strokes a round better than, the highest standard in Australia. The standard in Great Britain, he said, was improving. He saw the open championship play at Muirfield, Scotland, and the Ryder Cup contest at Leeds. It- was marvellous golf. The promise of Percy Allis, the win ner of the German open championship, and third in the British open champion ship, impressed Dr. Lee Brown, who said that at the time of the British open championship Allis was suffering from lumbago, otherwise he might have beaten Hagen. , , •
