(Herald Correspondent.) Dr. J. Ross has been appointed a member of the Fire Board, representing the Borough Council, vice Mr. J. Corkill. Canon Butteriield is on a visit to Wellington. The funeral of the late Mr. Thomas George White, the victim of the recent blasting fatality at Waikaremoana, took place on Sunday afternoon, Canon Butterfield officiating!" There was a large attendance of Public Works Department men at the funeral, while deceased's son also arrived in time for the service. During the month six building permits were issued by the borough inspector, to the value of £2490. Mr. ,1. M. Swain, who has now gone to Taihape, presented to the Borough Council on Monday night his last report, showing very satisfactory conditions, there being only three cases of infectious disease, scarlet fever. During the past month the borough ranger impounded 12 horses and 11 head of cattle, the accruing fees being £8 9s. A total of 137 dogs had been registered to date.
