The National Government announces the receipt of a reply from the United States to a recent Note presented to the powers requesting the immediate abolition of consular jurisdiction. it is understood that the reply refuses to consider an immediate abolition, though offering to discuss the question. It is believed that America's refusal is based on a belief that many Chinese courts are subject to military influence.
