TO THE FROZEN SOUTH

THE DISCOVERY SAILS VOYAGE OF ADVENTURE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association./ LONDON, August JO. The Discovery has left Cardiff for Capetown on the first stage of the Polar expedition, all well. Accompanied by the screeching of many sirens the vessel sailed at noon, the Australian flag fluttering in the gentle breeze. She made a majestic picture as she passed into Bristol Channel, adventure written all over her. It was with obvious pride that officers and crew lined the deck and waved farewells to the crowd which gathered at the harbor entrance. It was a coincidence that the Discovery passed another Australian thicemastcr entering port and there were mutual greetings as the Discovery glided into the grey mist of the Channel. All the crew are fit and well and

keen. The ship was closely searched at the last moment, but there were no stowaways.
