ARCTIC TRAGEDY
ONE OF SEARCHERS SHOT ECHO OP ITALIA DISASTER (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) ROME, August 10. A tragic incident occurred whir the crew of the steamer Baleniere was searching for traces of the Italia victims on the coast of Spitzbergen. A party of three were exhausted after a 400 miles march, when a hungermaddened bear attacked them. Captain Albertini, commanding the expedition, rushed to their aid, but slipped on the treacherous ice, and hi? rifle exploded, fatally wounding one of the party.
