OBITUARY
mb. NAPIER GORDON GLASSFORD A well-respected and highly popular settler of real pioneer stock died this morning in Wairoa in the person of Air. Napier Gordon G.assfoyd The deceased toot up the Tahake station, near VVaikuremoana, about two years ago, having formerly farmed for many years a leasehold property at Te Reiuga. His death resulted from pneumonia, and relatives in Poverty Bay were quite unaware oi any serious danger until they were advised of his demise. The late Mr. Glassford was born in Otago in 1870, his parents being Scottish people who, having retired from farming m the Skrnth, returned to Scotland, aim settled in Edinburgh. Mr. Glassford was educated there, and as a young man came out to New Zealand again, For some time he was farming at Waimata in partnership with the late Mr. Jopp. and then he went to Tmiroto, taking up a Government leasehold there and de veloping it successfully. His wife wa> formerly Miss E. Mcrhail, a danghtei of an esteemed Poverty Pay family. With two daughters, Mesdames Eric Robinson and W. Torbett, and one young son, Mrs. Glassford survives ho: husband, and with the members of her family will 'K* accorded deep sympathy in their loss. The passing of a highly respected member of a pioneer family was signalised by a large attendance at the funeral yesterday of Miss Annie Robe, at the Patrtahi cemetery. The Rev. C. H. Lowilen conducted the service, and numerous floral emblems testified to the sympathy of the many friends of deceased. 1
