PUBLICISTS’ SYMPOSIUM LONDON, July 29. Although! the bishops preferred to make no statement on birth control, a number of publicists are co-operating in the Daily News symposium, which Dr. Edward Lyttelton, former headmaster of Eton, inaugurates. He emphasises that the last halt-cen-tury has seen a subtle change in national life. The manifold social conditions are forcing thousands of married persons to restrict their families, consequently many who have the best interests of the country at heart believer- that no time ought to he lost in appealing to the public, and not allow to go by default the question whether contraception is the best method of limitation.
