LAND TAX OPPOSED
UNIVERSAL INCOME TAX (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. The Hawke’s Bay County Council today urged tlie imposition of a universal income tax in preference to a graduated land tax, it being contended tliat it was unfair to make a farmer who might be showing a loss to pay tax on land covered by a mortgage.
