NATURAL CAUSES

DEATH AFTER VACCINATION SYDNEY, August 6. At the coroner’s inquiry into the death of William Minihan, who died suddenly after vaccination against typhoid, the medical evidence was to the effect that the vaccination showed no reaction whatever, the cause of death being heart disease. The authorities took charge of the body at the graveside in order to discover whether inoculation directly or indirectly caused death, as in the Bnndaberg (Queensland) cases last year. The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony.

Minihan’s funeral was interrupted in a dramatic manner on July 22, when detectives took charge of the coffin at the cemetery and removed it to the morgue. It was stated that Minihan, who had recently arrived from New Zealand with his wife and family, and was going on to New Guinea, had been vaccinated against and the authorities intended to test the serum.
