THE SALVATION ARMY
CHANGES IN STAFF NEW COMMISSIONER FOR N.Z. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) LONDON, Aug. 6. It is understood that Salvation Army Commissioner John Cunningham, formerly international secretary for Europe and the Dominions, succeeds Commissioner Hay in New Zealand. It is reported that Commissioner Hay is to take charge of Eastern Canada, but headquarters state that only General Higgins knows. Commissioner Mitchell succeeds Commissioner Cunningham.
The following announcement has been made by the Salvation Army headquarters in' Wellington: “Commissioner Hay, head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, has received orders from General E. J. Higgins to take farewell of his command and bo ready to proceed to a new and important appointment in October. During the last three years some important advances both in spiritual and social work have taken place in the army’s activities. Commissioner and Mrs. Hay will b© saying good-bye at many centres, and in October will conduct concluding meetings in Wellington. The new loader for the dominion will shortly be announced.”
