ALL BLACKS’ WEAKNESS LILBURNE HERO OP TOUR (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Commenting on tho tour of the All Blacks, who returned to-day, the manager, Mr. J. McLeod, said Lilburne was the real hero of the (our. In the speaker’s opinion he was just starting to bo the New Zealand captain and played wonderful " football. The New Zealand selectors would have to realise that the Australians had shown a distinct im provement in tile game The New Zea-
land team was chosen without trial matches. Oliver was very clever, ami did fine work in defence. Dailey was the real star in the only game he played, but the whole trouble was that after losing him the team had no half-hack of real class. Tuck was a good player, blit he was not a- half-back, and Leys was not up to standard.
The main cause of the loss of the tests was that the team had 110 safety
link between the forwards and the hacks. Httingfellow made a very lino job at full back position, and played well all through. Hook was very erratic. McWilliams played line football and was very popular with the crowd. Palmer and Snow also did well. ’Die most improved and mosi promising player was CotterilL the Canterbury’ hooker. Mahoney, the youngster of the team, a real giant, has great possibilities. It was a pity, said Mr. McLeod, that the team had to travel to Melbourne after the first- test, and then go back to Brisbane for the second test and play the third at Sydney on Saturday week. That was a great mistake, and was the only thing about the whole tour that was badly arranged.
Most of the injured players, he said, had shown great improvement on the trip to Auckland, hut unfortunately Dallev might not be able to play again this season. The Ron. E. H. Farrar, Minister of Labor, Industries and Commerce in New South Wales, who arrived by the Ulimaroa, said the New Zealand team was a fine manly lot, and had done much credit to tile Dominion, both on and off the field.
