HARBOR BOARD
THE MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Gisborne Harbor Board was held to-day, there being present Messrs. J. Tombleson, chair pian,-J. B. Broadhurst, T. Corson. A. A. Fraser, T. Todd, W. Bruce, A. J. Nicol, A. Wude, C H. Williams, A. C. Steele, T. Quirk, and Dr. J. C. Collins. Leave of absenue was grained to Messrs. A. H. Wailis, If. J. F. Tombleson, and G. Smith. The board considered a letter from tho (iisborne School Committee asking Jor support of the technical school, now under the jurisdiction of the commiCee. It was felt that the scope of the board's operations did not cover support of this type of institution, and the letter was received. In its report, the works 'committee referred as under to improvements to the roading in the vicinity of the new weighbridge : "A proposal by the borough en gineer regarding improvement works in the vicinity of the board's new weigh bridge was looked- into. The borough engineer suggests that the proposed trori beyond 21ft. from the centre of the roadway on the southern side be borne by the council and the, board in equal proportions, estimated at about £123 for each body. The committee inspected the site and in v > ew °f tno advisability of having this work put in hand at once, decided to authorise the engineer to inform the borough engineer that his proposal is agreed to."—The engineer, Mr. C. F. .Marshall Smith, stated that the work bad been put in hand this morning.— The board confirmed the action of the | committee.
