(Herald Correspondent.i Mr. Q. A. Dunlop will represent Wairoa at the annual conference of the New Zealand Kennel Club Jin Wellington on July 26. Mr. G. F. Jardine has donated £3 3s towards the cost of providing a judging ring for dairy stock at the( Wairoa showgrounds. The funeral of the late Mr. Timothy Ring took place at the Wairoa cemetery on Thursday afternoon, in the presence of a large number of settlers. A short service was held at St. Peter's Catholic Church by Father Hickson, who also officiated at the graveside. Upon the conclusion of the church rites the ritual/ provided in the rules of the Ancient/ Order of Foresters, of which deceased had been a member for many years, was read by Mr. Mcllroy, there being! a good muster of members in regalia. The social promoted by the Pirates' Football Club was very successful, both as a function and a means of raising! funds. Several novel competitions were played, and the winners of the card game were Miss Middleton, Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Marshall (consolation), and Messrs. N. Mann, R. Buckingham and A. Halpin (consolation). Mr. Tohara's orchestra provided the music for the dances. The hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Tohara and Loader. Xarrdw margins marked the recent basketball games. Convent Old Girls beat Kiwi. The winners' goals were secured by Misses M. Renouf, A. Poyzer and I. Renouf, whilst those for tiro losers were tossed by Misses M. Jane and L. Bate.—High School Old Girls beat Frasertown by six gotls to five. The winners' goals were secured by Misses S. Bainbridge (2), I. Wright (2), and Zejia Adsett (2), while those i for the losers were scored by Misses E. Duncan (4) and G. Beckett (1). Primary and High School A drew, two all. the scores for Primary being made by Misses L. Unwin and D. Haenga, and for High School by Misses L. Pakuku and F. Smith.—Wesley (6) defeated High School B (5). The winners' goals were tossed by Misses M. Pearse (5) and M. Duncan (3), whilst those for the losers were secured by Misses E.' Haenga (2) T. Stevens (2) and N. Couper (1). Convent Old Girls pre now in the lead. At the annual meeting of the A. "and P. Society a letter was read from the Poverty Bay A. and P. Society asking to be advised as to the proposals this year for the Hunt Club Cup. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the new committee.
