NO CHANGE IN POLICY The Lyttcltou Times and the Christchurch Star on Saturday passed into the ownership of Sv.w Zealand Newspapers, Ltd., the new company formed !;v the amalgamation of the Lyttelton Times Co., Ltd., and the Brett Printing and Publishing Co., Ltd., of Auckland, publishers of 'the Auckland Star. The combination of the two companies constitutes the most powerful newspaper organisation in New Zealand, since it brings under one ownership the Lyttelton Times, which is the oldest newspaper in the Dominion, the Christchurch Star, established in 1868, and the Auckland Star. The nominal capita] of the new company is £I.OCO,CCO, and the issued capital '£SB2.SCO in £1 shares. It, is not proposed lo change the policy or method of control of the company's newspapers. Like the Lyttelton Times and Ihe Christchurch Star, the Auckland Star is a, Liberal journal, so that the two companies have always been in close political sympathy.
