N.Z. COUNCIL MEETING MANY MATTERS DISCUSSED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The council of the New Zealand Football Association met to-night. The Taranaki Association reported having suspended a player who had been cautioned, but not sent off the field, for using bad language, the referee agreeing that there was provocation. —The emergency committee had replied that the Tanuulki Association Was not in order in suspending the player in such circumstanmes, and referred them to the rule on the subject. —The committee’s action was approved, the chairman remarking that if the man’s conduct was not had enough to order him off, it was not bad enough to suspend him. The Otago Association forwarded a remit in reference to Football Association trophy games as follows: (1) That the English Trophy matches he reinstated as formerly, and that all home associations arrange for billeting all players, thus eliminating expense; (2) that if bo a. recommendation that, no entertainment expenses bo allowed associations in connection with the Football Association Trophy matches.—The remit was referred to the competitions committee, the chairman . saying that billeting was a matter of arrangement between the associations. The question of n New Zealand primary schoolboys , team visiting Australia arose on a letter from, Mr. R. W. (’.rono, secretary of the/ North Island Primary Schools Football Association, stating" that at the last annual meeting at Huntly, it was favorably considered, and asking that a representative team •be sent of 18 players—Auckland and Wellington five each, Canterbury and Otago four each —under the management of Mr. It, Harrison, Auckland. Delegates did not think the team should be organised in the North Island only, or by any ono association. He had been finable to find the secretary of the South island Primary Schools Association to ascertain its'wishes. No one appealed to know where the headquarters of the South Island Association were, nor who was the secretary.,—lt was decided to ask Mr. Grorio Sor a report as to the probable cost and how it was proposed to proceed, stating that further information would bo forwarded on receipt of a communication from the South Island association. Poverty Bay asked that suspensions imposed sine die, made since 1927, be lifted This would restore two players in their association.—The request was approved- , ,1’ ThO Wellington challenge to Auckland for the F. A. Trophy to be played in Auckland on July 20 was approved, and also Otago’s challenge to play the winner. „ An entry for the Chatham Cup was received from Gisborne, and one is ex- , pected from Hawke’s Bay.— tit 1 was decided to extend entries until Juno 4. t •V challenge from Nelson to Greymouth for the Peter Dawson Cup was approved, as was a North Auckland challenge to South Auckland for the Brown Shield, a challenge from Hawke s Bay for this trophy being next m order.. North Auckland reported that it had raised its registration fee from Is to 2s to help reduce the club’s hank overdraft, and the Taranaki association reported that it had decided to make a levy of Is per player for the same purpose. The Auckland Association wrote proposing the inauguration of a secondary schools tournament during the August holidays along the lines of the primary school" tournament, which it was hoped would he a link between the primary schools and the clubs.—lt was agreed that the Auckland body should proceed with the inquiries they were making, and the council wished them success in their efforts. . Mr. Alf. Williams was appointed ) secretary to the association, and high appreciation of his services was expressed, by the chairman, who said it was difficult to express the council’s recognition of the tremendous work he had done for the assqciation. He had come forward at a most difficult time, and had relieved them of great anxiety, and the speaker was glad to say now that, it Was nearly all plain sailing again.
