WOMEN TEACHERS
REMITS BY CONFERENCE (Per Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Delegates to the New Zealand Women Teachers’ Association met today. The following remits were earned . ~ “That a start be made m New Zealand to provide separate positions tor women in mixed schools of 600 pupils or more; a woman shall be the acknowledged head of stich, and there, shall be a separate infant mistress.” “That, beginners in all infant department be admitted to school only during the first week of each term, and that provision be made so that a child w hose birthdav occurs in mid-term IMV be admitted/if derived, at. the beginning of such term.” , „ , “That infant departments be staked on a basis of 30 pupils per teacher. “That in view of the overwhelming evidence in favor of the principle o open-air schools, ■ the conference urges the necessity for remodelling old rooms or building'new ones, careful consideration to he given to the construction and placing of 'windows so as to get the maximum of sunlight.’
