Mr. A. Hind, F.R.S.A.. lias completed his North Island tour, and will leave on his return to London bv the Tainui on May 9.
Colonel Stewart, the former chairman of the Standard Oil Co., is entitled to a pension of £15.000 a year front the company.
Mr. E. Charles Lindsay, F.R.C.S., 0.8. K., an eminent surgeon from Wiinpole street, London, will arrive in New Zealand this week. He will stay at his brother’s residence iri Christchurch. Mr. A. R. Galbraith, the Christchurch city engineer, has received advice that lie has been elected a life member of the Institute of Civil Engineers, London, and also that he has been admitted to membership of the American Society of Civil Engineers and of the Town Planning Institute of Great Britain.
Mr. C. W. Sampson, who lias become a member of the Greymouth stall of the Public Works Department, is a native of Reefton and was formerly resident in Greymouth, where his father was postmaster 26 years ago. He was transferred from the West Coast and liis most recent undertaking has been in charge of electricity development at Wai.karemoana. Lieutenant-Colonel W. If. Cunningham, D. 5.0., of Wanganui.Officer Commanding the First Battalion Hawke s Pay Regiment, will relinquish his command towards the end of this year. He will he succeeded I,v Lieutenant-Colonel R. F. Gambrill, of Gisborne, who is at present second-in-command of the battalion. Both officers have distinguished war records of service On Gallipoli and in France, and have served for many years with the regiment.
