POPULAR APPOINTMENT
U.S. AMBASSADOR MR. C. Ct. DAWES FOR LONDON (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.' (Received April 11, 11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 10. The appointment of Mr. C. G. Dawes, a former Vice-President, as Ambassador to Britain, was announced at White House to-day. The State Department received word that Mr. Dawes was acceptable to the British Government. The appointment, which is subject to Senatorial confirmation, is well received in diplomatic circles. Mr. Dawes sails for England in June.
