LAW SOCIETY’S INQUIRY (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The president of the New Zealand Law .Society states that an announcement re cently made by a special correspondent of several newspapers that representations will shortly be made by tho society to the Prime Minister concerning the Public Trust Office, consequent upon a> investigation undertaken by a committee of the society was not made with the authority of the society. Tho announcement, he says, is in several respects misleading and inaccurate. No accountant has been outraged by tho society to dissect the Public Trust Office’s statement as alleged, and no report ha; been received from the committee, and until it has been receiver) and considered by tho council of the society no course-of action can be determined.
