MAULED BY LION

GAME HUNTER INJURED NAIROBI (British East Africa), • Fob. 21. Jack Lucy, famous English hunter, is in a serious condition at a hospital here from a horrifying mauling by a lion. Lucy, who was out with Count and Countess Balbo on a hunting expedition in Kilamauneza, Tanganyika, was walking through a donga, when he walked right into a full grown lion lurking there. Ho did not have the faintest chance for action, as the lion sprang instantly and struck him down. It probably would have killed him outright had not another member of the hunting party named Padlar come on the scene. The lion turned on Padler, but was shot dead at close range. J. r. Lucy has long been known as a big' gamo hunter, being a specialist in lion hunting. In 1927 he returned to England with 280 lions as his total bag at that time.
