DEARTH OF MEN

PRESBYTERIAN MINISTRY Speaking at a meeting of tlm Otago and Southland Presbyterian Synod, Prolessor Day is said that, in view of tho fact that there was a dearth of ministers of tho Presbyterian Church in many parts of tfho world, lie wondered it' it would bo wiso for them to call a-halt in any way to discourage men from entering tho ministry. Ho had recently been in Australia, and found that tho position of tho Church in New South Wales was really serious. There was a dearth of ministers and a vast amount of work to he done, it was not a question of money —they seemed to have a superabundance of that. There was a. dearth of men. If they lmd men hero and tho Church was rich enough to train them, should they not encourage men to go to Australia? lie had been told that opportunities in Australia were tremendous. New Zealand had men ami Australia had opportunities, and he thought they should not discourage young men from ordering the Church.
