BYRD SUPPLY SHIP
EVERY MINUTE COUNTS MUST LEAVE AGAIN NEXT WEEK (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Tho latest report received by Mr. Brophy, second in command of the Byrd expedition, is that the Eleanor Bolling is approaching the New Zealand coast at top speed. “I have been in constant touch with the vessel,” said Mr. Brophy, ‘‘and have issued instructions that every ounce of speed that can bo got out of the ship must be obtained, so that she shall reach Dunedin on Februady 14, instead of the following day. “The Eleanor Bolling must be away again six hours after her arrival. During thaf time the vessel will load 500 tons of gear, including an aeroplane, a motor, 500 gallons of benzine, and 4000 gallons of other oils. Every minute counts now,” he said in conclusion.
Air. Brophy will leave Auckland tonight or to-morrow morning for Wellington and Dunedin.
