Generally the sample is good, and in spite of the hcaw rain and rapid riponiug and threshing to whieh they lnuel) have been subjected, appear as it" they will condition satisfactorily. There has been ;i shade of easing during the wools for now wheat. It- had been sold on Monday at 5s 9d on (rucks for Tuscan, but this last eouple of days 5s BJd has been realised, and one caso of 5s 8d filterings are fairly free. The price of prompt oafs has droppod; 'the new .season's offerings are influencing the price of last, year's stocks. Nominally they were quoted last week at 3s lOd. f.0.b., ;s.i.. and 3s 7d is the tigure .mentioned to-day. Speculative interests last year raised oats to rather mi extreme value, talk of considerable export being in the air. After the crop commenced to come in this season there, does not appear to be any possible outlet, and with the shrinkage that is going mi in local needs, merchants are disinclined to operate. Quotations range from 3s 6d to 3s 6Jd, f.0.b., s.i., for July-September. An exceptionally good line, of A Cartons, the first of this variety this season, was offered ihe> other day in Cashol street, and was sold at 2s lid on trucks. About 2s lOd Lsi the value mentioned by merchants. Algerians are not attracting any interest, and quotations are from 2s 6d to 2>. 8d on trucks. The disposal of chaff at 1)3 15s on trucks has continued to some extent- A .sample or two of Plains 7 cocksfoot has lioon offered, some of it very good. Thei tigure asked, however, was above merchants' ideas. Perennial ryegrass has been bought: at 3s 6<l a bushel on trucks, but: not a great deal of quality'has so far been offered; Potatoes were inclined to wise during the week, and a sale or two was made at £4 17s 6d f.0.b., s.i.. and at £5 15s to £6 for July-August. .Merchants are more disposed to operate this last few days. Onions are a few shillings weaker, being quoted at £6 15s, Lyttelton.
