SENTENCE ON SHIP’S OFFICER (British Official WireVss.r Rec. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Jan. 30. The Foreign Secretary in the House of Commons to-dav said instructions are being sent to the British Ambassador in Lisbon to request the Portuguese Government to order a revision of the case of Mr. Brewer, second officer of the steamer Clan Lament, who, after his arrest on a charge of the theft of £l, was imprisoned for nine months while awaiting trial in Portuguese West Africa, and was then condemned to 3GO days imprisonment and an £lB line or another 90 days’ imprisonment.
