AN EXPENSIVE PRANK
POWER DISLOCATED 1000 MEN MAY LOSE WORK (Flee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn. l (Received Jan. HI, noon.) SYDNEY, Jan. 31. The prank of an apprentice at Port Kembla power house is leading to a serious industrial upheaval. As a direct consequence light and power will be cut off to-night throughout a large section of the south coast, and about 1000 workmen will be thrown out of employment. Ail assurance has been given by the Minister of Works, Mr Buttenshaw, that if the employees carry out their .threat to strike, following the dismissal of the apprentice, the Government, is in a position to maintain the light and power services in the affected area.
