TOURNAMENT RESULTS A TROPICAL AFTERNOON Cleaving up definitely this afternoon, after three clays of showery weather, the conditions became almost tropical, and the Poverty Hay and East Coast Lawn Tennis Association's tournament was carried on in* bright sunshine'. .Must of the players found eye-shades of the "Helleh Wills" variety most helpful, and even (he men were glad to adopt this means of protection fiom Ihe glare of Ihe sun. The New Zealand tennis championships were resumed at about 10.30 o'clock this morning in dull, muggy weather, with the courts very heavy as a result of yesterday's downpour. Heavy rollers were necessary to prepare the courts, and sawdust was freely sprinkled on the baselines, which were' very greasy. Some, of the contestants played in spiked running shoes.
