BRUTAL ATTACK

WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED

SYDNEY, Dec. 14.

Mrs. Kopit, who conducts a pawn shop in George street in the city, had a sensational experience with a ruffian just after she opened the shop to-day. The man asked a question about socks and Mrs. Kopit turned to serve him when she was foiled with an iron bar, which was wrapped in brown paper. The man attempted to raid the shelves, but Mrs. Kopit' screamed and her sister arrived from upstairs just in time to see the assailant disappearing through the door.

Mrs. Kopit was sent to hospital with cerebral concussion.

The police state that the crime has a remarkable resemblance to the shooting ease at Marri'ekville on June 39, when two women were fatally shot bv a masked man.
