DOCKERS ANNOYED

The local trade union secretary had the greatest difficulty iin 1200 dockers in Manchester from ceasing work and marching to the Town Hall as a protest against the Mayor, Mr. Sal ford, making.a statement at a dinner that dockers took up with lasses, and lived in a. single room, producing fl population which was a menace to the town, and leaving them :< charge on the rates-
'I lie secretary declared I hat il was a malicious attack on the morals of the dockers' wives, lie added: "1 feel like handing him over to the women."
The Mayor privately received a deputation of protesting dockers, but refused to apologise. Ho said he did not- mean all dockers.
