The Auckland Electric Power Board, Auckland, N.Z., October 17, 1928. i Messrs. Campbell Motors Ltd., Auckland. Dear Sirs, — Further to our conversation re Rugby Cars, I have to slato, in reply to your question concerning these, that we have no complaints to make, and the Itugbys owned by us have given entire satisfaction. The cars with us are only a medium of transit, and in most cases we are not able to treat them in the same manner as'a private owner would. Nevertheless, these jobs have stood up remarkably well,, and 1 have taken out a few figures, which I give below, and which will serve as a. better indication of what we are actually doing with Bugby cars. The five instances wo submit have not been chosen for any special reason other than, that the records are clear during the past 12 months, and are taken from October, 1927, to September 30, 1928. These particular cars have not been subjected to any fay-ups, but have been kept on the road continuously, therefore the records can be taken as a very fair example of what they are doing. Example 1.—23,427 miles run in the year. Example 2.- 14,550 ~ ~ Example 3. —18,200 ~ ~ Example 4. 8,868 ~ ~ Example 5. —12,243 ~ ~ TOTAL: 77,288 miles, or an average oE approximately 15,457 miles per car per year. BENZINE CONSUMPTION: S2Algals, averaging 24 miles per gallon. LUBRICATING OIL CONSUMED : 57gals, averaging 1350 miles per gallon. (General practice is to change oil completely every 1000 miles.) I am sorry that, just at this minute, Lam unable to give you the proportional costs of upkeep per car, but I can state definitely that these figures are quite reasonable, particularly in view of the work our cars are doing. Yours faithfully, (Signed) R. IT-. BARTLEY, General Manager. AGENTS Redstone’s Motors GREY STREET.
