ELECTION RESULTS

INFORMATION FOR THE PUBLIC

Complete arrangements have been made for giving .the public the" fullest and the earliest information concerning the election results. The returns as they come to hand from local and outside centres will be promptly posted on a largo hoarding extending across the fronts of the Herald building and the premises of Messrs Charles Adair and James Johnstone. For the first time wireless is to play a part in the announcement of the returns, and loud speakers placed in front of the hoarding will givo u vocal account of the poU position as it comes to hand .through the agency Of the New Zealand broadcasting stations.. The main supply of information will be from 2YA Wellington, which has been granted special facilities by the Chief Electoral Officer

to relay the returns from his ofllce as they come to hand from the various I constituencies. The broadcasting from this office will be in the competent hands of Messrs. Stevens and Patty, of the Atwater Kent radio station 2ZM. Through the courtesy of the Chief Postmaster and' the superintendent engineer of the Telegraph Department provision has been made for special telephone communication between the telegraph and electoral offices and this office, so that telegrams received during the evening will bo transmitted and posted with the minimum of delay. The electoral officers, Messrs Fulton and Naldcr, have also been most helpful in facilitating the work of our staff, in order that good service may be given to the public. It has been arranged that the telephone to the Herald publishing omeo. No, 527, will be available for answering inquiries from a distance, but the other telephones of the office will not be available to the public, being required for the collection of the results.
