MOUSTACHE FASHIONS
FILM STARS' INFLUENCE LONDON, Sept. 28. The voices of moustache and beardwearing actors in talking , films arc, according to critics, less distinct than those of their clean-shaven colleagues. The result may bo that screen'"stars" will discard such adornments, with the inevitable reflection in men's fashions generally. A West End men's hairdresser said yesterday: "Moustaches have been coming slowly back into favor during the last live years. ' A reaction, it seemed, set in after the war, and moustaches and beards almost completely lost favor. The 'beaver' craze sounded the death-knell to beards, of course. Then moustaches were seen
again. "It is difficult to say whether talking films will affect their upward trend of popularity. Any barber will tell you that, the appearance of a new favorite on the screen or stage is invariably reflected in men's fashions. When Rudolph Valentino was so popular men were coming iii every day and having their moustaches shaved off. Now the thin, straight-lined, moustache, something like an eyebrow, worn by John Gilbert, is all the rage."
