LABOR RULE
RESULTS IN QUEENSLAND AND N.S.W. Now Zealand Labor candidates have been very “mum” on the subject of Labor administration in Australia, and for good reason. The following from the Sydney Morning Herald d£als with the record of Labor rule in Queensland: “During the period of Labor Government in that. State —a regime maintained by what are probably the most rotten electoral rolls and the most unequal electoral divisions in the Empire, taxation has increased by nearly 400 per cent, per capita, the public d< bt (nearly £110,000,000) has doubled, and the richest State in Australia lias had seven budget deficits in 12 years. During the Labor regime of Mr. Lang in New South Wales taxation :n that State increased from £3/17/7 per capita in 1925 to £5/8/1 in 1927, and Sydney became the dealest city in Australia to live in.”
