NEW PRAYER BOOK

BISHOP OF LONDON’S ACTION JElec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn., (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.! (Received Nov. 9, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 8. The Daily Express states that although rubrics permitting 'the reservation of the sacrament were the chief reason for the House of Commons’ rejection of the new Prayer Book, the Bishop of London has sent a letter to 1(50 incumbents of churches where the reservation is practiced—out of a total of t 520 churches in the diocese—announcing that he will permit the reservation as in the past. The decision of the Bishops’ Conference following the second rejection was to take the new book .as a standard, but to consult the clergy of the synods. The London Synod rejected the proposal to permit the reservation as under the new book. The Bishop’s letter, therefore, defies both the synod and the House of Commons.
